Initiatives

The Office of the Associate Dean, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Indigeneity is committed to engagement, learning and advocacy that centres on the richly diverse heritage, age, abilities, life trajectories, religion, race, sexual orientation, gender identity and expressions of our students, staff and faculty.  Our work includes seeking commonalities, acknowledging and understanding differences, identifying EDII practitioners and leaders, and harnessing EDII knowledge and activity within the eight Departments and Schools of the Faculty. The actions and initiatives described here are the result of the collective effort, dedication and enthusiasm of many students, staff and faculty committed to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion across the institution.

Curriculum Development Learn More

The new course SCIENCE 2AR3 – Foundations of Science: Equity, Justice and Anti-Racism in Science 3 unit(s) will be offered in Winter 2024. In this course, students will be exposed to an interdisciplinary curriculum, which examines the intersections of equity, justice and anti-racism with science.

Outreach and Community Learn More About MePLUS

Our outreach and mentorship will compliment McMaster’s coordinated Access and EDI Strategies and is founded on the deep and lasting commitments to increase accesspromote interest for science, and address misconceptions and barriers associated with opportunities in sciences. MePLUS is an outreach initiative being launched in the Fall 2023.

 

Consultations Learn More

The Office of the AD EDII is continuing to meet with individuals and committees from each of the eight Departments and Schools in the Faculty to learn more about commonalities, emerging themes, specific initiatives, strengths and challenges.
